Mission
LAMBS of Highgate honors the memory of the teachings, parenting, and candor of Alvin and Leslene Morales. The foundation exists to assist underserved senior citizens in Jamaica by providing assistance that will enhance their lives with dignity. LAMBS of Highgate also provides scholarships for students majoring in geriatric care, working with and/or volunteering with senior citizens.
Our Vision
Our vision is to create a world where Senior Citizens in their golden years can be confident that at least some of their basic needs will be cared for and that they will have access to quality education, healthcare, and basic needs. We believe that by investing in children, we are investing in the future of our society.
Our Approach
At LAMBS of Highgate, we believe in a holistic approach to helping Senior Citizens in need. We provide them with basic needs for their hygiene, we provide for their physical needs with items like walking sticks, walkers, disposable garments for incontinent patients, bed linens, towels, wound care items, nutritional supplies and much more.
Our Impact
Over the years, we have impacted the lives of many Senior Citizens by helping them improve the quality of their lives and by helping them to exercise autonomy and regain their self-esteem. We have made donations in shipments of needed supplies mostly according to individual agency's requests and also through our experiences. One of our Seniors referred to the beautiful wheelchair we gave her, as her "Mercedes Benz."
We not only ship the items, but we clear them at the wharf and sometimes deliver them to the agencies because we are aware that many institutions lack the ability (especially financial) to clear and collect them at the wharf. We have also made monetary contributions to institutions in dire need of such help. Last year, we donated J$100,00.00 each to two institutions. We are proud of the positive impact we have made on the lives of our seniors who have carved a path for us in their youth. We know that many of them have made significant contributions to their families, communities and other significant arenas. They should be applauded and cared for. This is LAMBS ' way of assuring them that people do care about them..
